1. Be clear and precise.

Don’t use over-complicated words or phrases that may confuse a user. After all, you want all users to be able to understand and answer the questions you have provided them with. If someone can’t understand a question, are they really going to try and use up their time to answer it? By using everyday language and words with clear meanings you will get accurate information from your test subject.

2.     Make the Questions Easy

Be sure not to overcomplicate questions that will bore a user. One common mistake is writing the questions in an interview style with scenarios that could produce a thousand different answers. If you are going to go down this route, make sure to keep the scenarios as short and tot he point as possible.

 

3.     Don’t overlap options

Although you may think this is an obvious point, this issue has been known to crop uptime and time again. Having multiple choice options can enable the process of overlapping to occur, which leads to users becoming confused and potentially picking the ‘incorrect’ option and leaving you with meaningless and arbitrary data

 

4.     Focus on asking closed questions

By asking closed questions, answers will remain precise and accurate whilst users are able to assertively choose the answer that best reflects their opinion-providing customers with the most logical and easy to use options.
